Coyotes in this neck of the woods?

If  you stay at the cottages at Hocking Hills State Park, you may get the chance to hear one of the more haunting and unforgettable sounds you'll ever hear as the coyotes holler out their high-pitched howls deep in the belly of the gorge and in the dark of night.

Some folks have compared the ghostly echoes of their yowls to the screaming cries of a woman.

But don't fear. The coyote is not only one of the most elusive members of the Hocking Hills wildlife but it is also one of the shyest, seldom being seen by hikers along the trails.
